Music & Rock School is not a traditional music school, and our instructors are not traditional, “by the book” instructors. In all of our instructors we look for musicians possessing a deep understanding of their instrument(s), and music as a whole. They are also active, working musicians, meaning they are regularly performing, writing, recording, etc. The combination of formal training and practical experience gives them an edge in providing students with not only a solid musical foundation, but more importantly, the ability to apply that knowledge to specific musical styles or wherever their interests take them. These are the distinct differences that make Music & Rock School’s instructors masters of their craft, as opposed to simply knowledgeable about music.

James hendrickson
Guitar/Bass Instructor
James Hendrickson first studied guitar on his own in middle school before taking lessons at MaRS in high school and a little bit of bass as well. Shortly after high school, he then proceeded to learn at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, receiving an Associate of Arts Degree for Guitar Performance, while also learning harmony and theory, advance guitar technique, and much more. He started teaching at MaRS in 2014, but took a break to work on his degree, and has returned to teach again in 2017. One love of his is teaching theory: knowing how music works and functions, makes you a better musician and allows you to learn music faster. James loves all kinds of music, especially modern/hard rock, as well as composition. He is excited to share his knowledge with you.
